- Inspect Valve Guide Freedom (or Play, or Wobble)
This is a pretty normal replacement on the CB. It’s more likely that the exhaust, or the hot side, will need replacement. Because the engine is old, the guides will likely have to be replaced if they haven’t already. You could do it yourself by heating up the head, cooling the valve guides, and buying or making a valve guide driver tool. I found that this type of percision work is best done by a professional. This is especially true because I found it difficult to buy a driver tool online. Check out this video on how to measure the guide / valve clearance:
