Engine Rebuild #10 (Cylinder Stud and Piston Installation)

After building up the pistons (i.e. – rings), I’m now installing them onto the rods to be finally encapsulated buy the cylinders.  After installing these, I’m also installing the Cylinder Studs.

For the pistons, use a pair of needle nose pliers to insert the pins that secure the metal dowel that connects the piston to the rod.  Also, be sure to use assembly lube before joining the dowel, piston, and rod.

For the studs, please clean out the threads in the crank case with compressed are.  Use oil and blue Loctite to secure the studs into the case at a torque of 18 – 20 ft/lbs.
